Tilan Wijeyesekera, new DGM Marketing at Seylan Bank
Colombo. Wednesday 09 February 2011. Seylan Bank PLC announced the appointment of renowned marketer Tilan Wijeyesekera as Deputy General Manager - Marketing, responsible for the marketing, sales and business development functions of the bank. Wijeyesekera a versatile marketer, has a wide array of experience including Strategic Planning, Corporate Affairs, Marketing & Brand Management, Business Development, Project Management, Supply Chain Management and Sales.

Wijeyesekera has steered an impressive portfolio of multinational and local brands during his previous stints in Lanka Milk Foods PLC as General Manager - Marketing, Head of Marketing at Janashakthi Insurance PLC, Marketing Manager and Business Development Manager at Elephant House and John Keells Group F&B sector, Business Development Manager for Lion Brewery and Brand Manager at Reckitt Benckiser.
His achievements include winning 9, ‘Brand Icon’ and Brand Excellence Awards for the Brands under his purview, especially in the financial services sector. Wijeyesekera who is passionate about the development of the marketing fraternity in Sri Lanka, is also the Vice President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the national body of marketing in Sri Lanka and is also on its Council of Education. He was also the Chairman of the Effies Awards in 2009, and Steering Committee member of the Chillies Advertising awards 2008 and a moderator for the international and local judging panel in 2007 and 2008. He is also one of the leading lecturers in marketing in Sri Lanka.
Wijeyesekera is a member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, and possesses a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), and is presently completing his MBA. He also holds a Practicing Marketer (SL) status and is a product of Royal College Colombo.
